It attributes the disasters befalling Japan at the time to the people’s slander of the Lotus Sutra and belief in false forms of Buddhism, particularly the Pure Land Nembutsu sect. The authenticity of the Ten Major Writings has never been questioned. In the fall ofthe Soka Gakkai published The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, which contains English translations of fully half the writings in the Japanese edition, and those translations have been enthusiastically welcomed by persons interested in Nichiren Buddhism.

It established in terms of zenshi sutras that the Daimoku of the Lotus Sutra, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, is the true teaching for the Latter Day of the Law. Moreover, even though the Buddha himself expounded this Law, without others to spread it, it would not have benefited the people. From the point of view of Buddhist doctrine, it discusses the vital importance of repaying debts of gratitude, especially to a teacher, and concludes that the way to repay such zzenshu fully is to embrace and propagate the Mystic Law.

Nichiren Buddhism has inherited the idea expressed in the sutra that all people are capable of achieving Buddhahood, and the great vow of the Buddha to enable all people to do so. But a trained mind brings health and happiness. Also written on Sado Island over a two-year period and dated April 25,this Gosho was entrusted to Toki Jonin, a government official and an early convert to the Daishonin’s teachings.

Nikko Shonin designated ten of Nichiren Daishonin’s writings as the most important of his works. However, this is an interesting page, thanks: Written at Mount Minobu in September and sent to Joken-bo at Seicho-ji temple, this Gosho refutes the objects of worship gisho the various sects, particularly those of the Shingon sect.

The disasters predicted by the Daishonin ultimately occurred several years later. He sent it to his former senior priests Joken-bo and Gijo-bo at Seicho-ji temple, where he had previously studied. This in turn can provide a spiritual and philosophical goxho for dealing with such modern global issues as the protection of human rights, the preservation of the environment, and the attainment of world peace.

It predicts that two further disasters, internal strife and foreign invasion, would occur if the country continues its support of mistaken teachings and heretical priests. Works “whose authenticity is not established, yet which traditionally have been highly valued from the standpoint of doctrine or of faith” were included along with the fully authenticated writings in Vol.

Under Inaba-bo’s name, Nichiren Daishonin wrote this treatise to the steward on behalf of his disciple.

An early Buddhist text known as the Dhammapada reads: The school of Buddhism known as Pure Land attributes salvation to the power of another, eznshu is, to the saving grace of Amida Buddha, while Zen Buddhism advocates salvation through the power of self, or the discipline of seated meditation.

It asserts that during this time period shakubukuleading another to the correct Buddhist teaching by zehshu his attachment to heretical views, is preferable to shoju gradually leading another to the true teaching without refuting his misconceptions. The treatise concludes that the ultimate Law is hidden in the depths of the Juryo sixteenth chapter of the Lotus Sutra.

We are able to discern the beginnings of Mahayana within the Buddhism of India, goshp it began to flower and bear fruit in earnest as it encountered and spread among different cultures. It maintains that Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the teaching for the Latter Day of the Law, the current era roughly beginning 2, years after Shakyamuni’s death. Nichiren Daishonin reveals himself here to be the Buddha of the Latter Day of the Law who possesses the three virtues of parent, teacher and sovereign. NO ONE in any scholastic circles uses it because it is so sectarian and unreliable. Because of the influence of delusions, the essential nature of phenomena changes into ignorance.

Within this universal religion called Mahayana Buddhism there are some ideas that appear to be contrasting or contradictory. If the Buddha, having awakened to the Dharma, or Law of life, had not endeavored to teach it to others, his enlightenment would have been incomplete.

It defines the chanting of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo as the direct way of enlightenment in the Latter Day.
